Yet, some content kept releasing in 1080p full HD with SDR, or standard dynamic range, rather than 4K with high dynamic range. As the 2020 release of Underwater on Blu-ray demonstrated, 1080p SDR still had a lot of life left in it when done right. We will now switch to the present tense, because this Blu-ray will always be a prime example of doing more with less. Underwater is a science fiction horror movie set some ten kilometers below the Pacific Ocean surface. Directed by William Eubank, the movie stars Kirsten Stewart, Jessica Henwick, Vincent Cassel, Mamoudou Athie, and T. J Miller (of Cloverfield fame). Bojan Bazelli supervised cinematography, which is marvelous throughout.
Underwater on 1080p SDR Blu-ray makes a case for two things: first, a well-made disc compensates for lower settings. Second, with upscaling and HDR emulation getting better all the time, good home cinema displays and projectors provide consistent quality as long as the source is capable enough, which in the case of Underwater on Blu-ray is definitely the case.
The five make their way to the sea floor, but as they are walking, Kepler explodes above and nearly buries them in debris. Smith is hit, but Price and Lucien save him. They manage to get through an access tunnel to an intermediate station, where they can charge and clean their suits. However, they find that Smith's oxygen scrubber is badly damaged from the debris. On their way through the access tunnel, Paul is attacked by an unknown creature, dragged underwater and killed. Before the team leaves the access tunnel, they find that Smith's damaged oxygen pod will cause him to suffocate from the explosion's toxic fumes. Unwilling to leave another crew member behind, Price, Lucien and Haversham agree to help Smith walk. The four set off across the ocean floor, but a humanoid creature appears and drags Smith into a cave. Lucien manages to get Smith out, but is himself pulled from the other three. Price is dragged along with Lucien, but Lucien sacrifices himself to spare Price from the increasing pressure differential.
Additionally, this underwater camera tilts 180 degrees upwards easily, meaning you can take fantastic selfies both above and below the surface. It features a 20-megapixel camera with three-times zoom capabilities, enough to create outstanding photos with minimal effort.
With 4K HD resolution, this camera captures high-quality photos and videos that make it a breeze to capture all your underwater moments. Additionally, outside of its housing, it makes a great on-land camera.
We really like the macro shooting mode, perfect for nudis and shrimp. And in regards to its zoom, it captures the smallest details in the distance with exceptional clarity. Vloggers, casual photographers, and ardent underwater photographers alike all rate the LX100 II for its ease of use and excellent quality images and video.
Many people think that megapixels are super crucial. Yes, they are essential when it comes to the quality of your photos, but not as much the camera sensor. When picking an underwater camera, aim for a better sensor than high megapixels. Something like a 12 megapixel Canon with a high-spec sensor performs better than a camera with high megapixels but a poor sensor.
There are 2 types of lights for underwater use, strobes and video lights. Strobes are like flashes, they throw a burst of instant light that is very powerful but for an instant. This only works for still shots of course.
It entirely depends on the camera! Note that there is a critical difference between water-resistant cameras and waterproof cameras. In general though, if a camera is sold as waterproof, it should be suitable to use underwater. Always check the depth rating before you take it diving though, and do not exceed the maximum depth.
I have used Olympus and Panasonic underwater cameras, in the last 15 years. All the lenses have fogged up after 3 to 5 years. Sales people have said l am lucky to get that long. Is that true Can you recommend one that will last a bit longer, l only snorkel. Thanks

Are you tired of standing hours and hours trying to find the fish of your dreams Do you want to know where the big fish are right away Then this post, about the best underwater fishing camera is perfect for you!
But since there are so many underwater cameras out there, it became very confusing. Many brands even call their fish finders a fishing camera which is completely wrong and untrue. This fact, makes it even harder to find a real fishing camera, and then decide which one will be the best that you should buy.
Before I will begin, it is essential to understand that this article is about the best underwater fishing cameras and it is not about underwater cameras. The reason I am mentioning this is since every fishing camera can operate as an underwater camera. However, not every underwater camera is a fishing camera. Confused
The first camera on our best underwater fishing cameras list is the newest Spydro fishing camera. This is, of course, the best underwater fishing camera on this list. No one can beat Spydro. At least not until now.

Behind the Shot: The Olympia shipwreck can be seen in the 1988 Luc Besson movie The Big Blue. It ran aground near shore on Amorgos Island in Greece. The secret of this image lies in the synchronization. To succeed, it took a ray of sunlight to illuminate the underwater landscape, then a wave arrived with the right angle on the dome to have a good view above and below, and finally, the freediver had to hold position facing the wreck. It took a lot of rehearsal.
Underwater hits Blu-ray with a 1080p MPEG-AVC with a 2.40:1 aspect ratio. The picture, as a whole, has high, clean-looking contrast. The high contrast leads to some vibrant whites and deep blacks. Right off the bat, you can just see how dark the shadows are in the film. Of course, this is a good thing since it does add to the creepiness of the unknown. Luckily, you can still see the shadow details of all of the detailed high-tech production design. However, there is a good amount of compression where there is a lot of banding in the picture.
We reveal whether Underwater has a post-credits scene setting up a potential sequel to this deep-sea thriller. The latest sci-fi thriller from director William Eubank (The Signal, Love) sees a team at an underwater lab try to escape and reach the surface when a mysterious earthquake endangers its structural integrity. The science fiction aspect of Underwater is introduced when the group learns it may not have been an earthquake that caused the damage, but some kind of undiscovered deep-sea creature. They'll have to walk across the ocean floor, 11,000 meters underwater, in order to have a chance of escaping to safety.
Underwater features a small, but solid cast, lead by Kristen Stewart as mechanical engineer Norah Price. She's joined in the film by Vincent Cassel, T.J. Miller, Jessica Henwick, John Gallagher Jr. and Mamoudou Athie. As seen in the Underwater movie trailers, the characters don't have much faith in their plan to walk across the ocean floor, but it's their only shot at surviving the mysterious creature threatening their underwater lab.
Though Underwater may not have a post-credits scene setting up a sequel to Eubank's deep-sea sci-fi thriller, that doesn't mean this world can't be revisited in a potential follow-up. Without spoiling the ending of Underwater, it can be noted there's certainly some sequel setup in the movie, before the credits even roll. As such, if this particular underwater horror movie is successful enough, then perhaps the story can continue - in some form - in a follow-up. After all, 2018's Meg may be getting a sequel. Even if the movies don't have much in common beyond their underwater settings, it proves there's an audience for good deep-sea thrillers.
While cleaning up after another night shift in Kepler 822, Norah hears what seem to be abnormal groans. Seconds later water starts dripping from the ceiling on her hand, and suddenly the whole underwater facility is shaking, with the different hallways and corridors imploding and getting destroyed while seawater starts rushing inside. She and another co-worker, Rodrigo, barely make it beyond a corridor, sealing it behind them to prevent the whole facility from flooding. That fix is short-lived, however, as during the initial shakes and flooding, the facility was affected beyond repair, leaving the survivors only a short amount of time before the whole place gives in to the pressure and is destroyed. As they make their way through the remains, they encounter a few more survivors, and together they must venture outside in the depths of the ocean while mysterious creatures seem to be stalking and following them.
