There is a feeling on the continent a move back to Atletico Madrid would appeal to De Gea should Jan Oblak leave. Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the 29-year-old Slovenian as a replacement for Hugo Lloris, but his salary at Atletico is said to be significant. Oblak signed a new deal to 2028 last summer, although this has not been publicly announced.
Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak, Everton's Jordan Pickford, Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez and Porto's Diogo Costa have all been mentioned as possible replacements, although the latter recently signed a new long-term deal with the Portuguese champions.
'Solskjaer is here to complete what people are calling a reboot at Manchester United. If we look at the geography of the negotiations, they've been going on for the last couple of years. They've always been confident that they would reach some sort of deal.
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly demanding a £350,000-a-week contract deal, if he is to commit to his future at Old Trafford. The Spaniard wants to be the second highest paid player at United after Alexis Sanchez.
Meanwhile, David de Gea reportedly wants to stay at the club, but will only do so if United prove their loyalty to him by offering him the £350,000-a-week deal which the Spanish international feels he deserves.
The goalkeeping situation at Old Trafford has been in focus this week. Martin Dubravka was recalled from his loan by Newcastle United after making just two appearances. Now England goalkeeper Jack Butland is on the verge of joining on loan from Crystal Palace. United also have Dean Henderson on the books still, with the shot-stopper currently on loan at Nottingham Forest. It is Henderson that is most likely to be affected by De Gea signing a new deal. However, for Rashford and Dalot, the two men are seemingly seen as well worthy of keeping. Rashford, for one, has looked much more like his old self this season and would have no shortage of takers. To that end, United will surely take up the one-year option on his deal at the absolute least.
However, letting their deals get so close to their expiries leaves United playing a dangerous game and exposed to their departures. The club, though, will likely already know which of the trio they want to keep and who may be allowed to leave. 2b1af7f3a8
